Camp Discovery 2017 took place at Rock Springs 4H camp last week.
AuBurn pharmacists Nate Wiehl and Tyler Tush, FCC physician Ross Kimball
and KU pharmacy students Mitchell Shelton, Kennedi Smith and Sierra Miles all
served as camp staff. Despite the early hail storm, weather was great and
102 type 1 diabetic children got to experience a great summer camp while
learning how to manage their disease. For many of these kids, this camp
is the only opportunity they get to spend time with other children battling
type 1 diabetes. Kids with type 1 diabetes have to take on such a huge
responsibility at a young age, but hopefully they come away from camp knowing
that diabetes doesn't have to keep them from doing anything they want to do.
